Historic Architectural Models

Historic Buildings are one of our passions. From old plans or photographs, it is exciting to see a building take shape that no longer exists or has been redeveloped. We believe in preserving the New Zealand historic buildings, these icons play a crucial role in New Zealands history. It can be a difficult challenge to intergrate modern and historic, a historic architectural model can make this progression easier, and allows appreciate and revisit to the past.

So far Modeltech has been involved in two significant exhibitions specifically related to New Zealand historic buildings. The first was the Hawera St Post Office which was tragically burnt down in 1885. The model was part of Raetihi Ratana Church. Part of a group exhibition "Church on a Hill" curated by WH Millbank Gallery in Whanganui. The exhibition's purpose was to express the significance and beauty of this icon through the eyes of a variety of artists using different media.
